This newsletter has been welcomed both by people with tinnitus and by members of the medical profession. Not only does it provide details of the group's meetings and events, it includes the latest information and reports on research into tinnitus.

There is also a section on news and events from the BTA.

Guest Speaker - Jan Berry

Guest Speaker at our Carrs Lane Church Centre Meeting on 9th November will be Hearing Therapist Jan Berry who will be talking about her work with tinnitus patients.

Sutton Coldfield General Meeting

This was an open meeting - organised to offer support and information to our members and anyone new to tinnitus - held at Duke Street Chapel, Duke Street, Sutton Coldfield on Friday 21st May 2010.

Elaine Davenport, Senior Hearing Therapist from Heartlands Hospital ENT and Hearing Services, outlined the new hearing therapy/tinnitus service at Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield. We also welcomed our group's President, Dr Ewart Davies, who was on hand to answer questions concerning tinnitus and give an update on current research.

Guest Speaker - Richard Hawker

Our Carrs Lane meeting in March was well attended, to hear Guest Speaker Richard Hawker talk about Mindfulness Meditation. Everyone in the audience expressed a great sense of well-being and gratitude for a calm yet informative morning.

Tinnitus Awareness Week 2010

This year's Tinnitus Awareness Week was held Feb 8-14th. The occasion was marked by a variety of events which were held at most of our Birmingham Hospital ENT Departments, Hearing Services Centres and Social Care and Health Services.

Merger with Birmingham Institute for the Deaf (BID)

Our group's proposed merger with BIB was completed in June 2009. BID has its offices at the renamed Deaf Cultural Centre, Ladywood Road, Edgbaston, Birmingham. Committee meetings are held here and any special event.
